Cats have been domesticated since ancient times to catch mice and rats. Today, they are primarily pets that, like dogs, require special attention when it comes to feeding and grooming. Cats are carnivores. But unlike dogs, which can eat certain plant-based foods, cats’ digestive systems are specially equipped to process animal protein.
Nutrients such as taurine and arginine are important for cat health. For cats, taurine is essential for heart, kidney and eye health. Arginine helps support the detoxification of ammonia in cats’ kidneys and is also important for promoting optimal heart and pancreatic function and keeping the gut healthy. Arachidonic acid is an essential fatty acid for cats, as cats cannot convert significant amounts of linoleate to arachidonate. And just like humans, cats need B vitamins to help support the cardiovascular system.
Cats also have problems metabolizing certain amino acids from other foods, such as converting niacin from tryptophan or vitamin A from beta carotene. Because of this, cats have stricter dietary requirements than omnivores like dogs and humans.

Recommended use
